Hypercoagulation (Thick Blood) - Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

Hyper coagulation has become a common ailment these days. Therefore it's vital to know what causes this problem. It happens due to an anomaly in the coagulation system. Such anomaly arises due to problems in the clotting factors. Blood clotting can cause serious issues. This coagulation can be caused by genetically acquired problems in clotting. This disease does not have any particular treatment, but continuous problems of this kind warrant a long term solution for coagulation.

The most prevalent symptoms of this ailment are pulmonary embolism (PE) and deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The later occurs in legs and involves a lot of pain and inflammation of the limbs. The veins of the legs valves get destroyed due to heavy blood clotting which is responsible for clotting. This clot can also shift to legs. So, when blood clotting happens in lungs, it results in paucity of breath and huge pain in the chest.

Abortion Clinic

This implies a huge risk of heart attack and chances of a stroke. Now, another clotting disorder called purpura fulminans, which happens in babies, causes the destruction of tissues and bleeding in the vital organs and skin. This kind of hypercoagulation occurs due to a lack of protein C in the child. Eventually, it prevents treatment with anti coagulant drugs like warfarin. When pregnant mothers suffer from hyper coagulation it can cause miscarriage. Other complications can also result during pregnancy apart from miscarriage like still birth, and intrauterine growth prohibition.

There are various reasons behind the incidence of this ailment. The most common of them is any stoppage of the body movement after an accident. This can increase chances of blood clotting. So, the shortage of muscle activity can cause the movement of blood to stop in veins. So, anyone who is prohibited to bed rest after a surgery can get blood clotting.

Since the body parts can swell due to a decreased body supply, they can also function at lower levels. The supply of blood to the brain can also decrease which causes a stroke. There are many ways to treat this disorder. The blood clots in the arteries can be removed through surgeries. They can also be eliminated through medication like activase and tenecteplase. Now, a patient can also get cardiac catheterization so that the blood clot is opened.

Now, when the blood clots form in the deep veins of the leg they are more dangerous as compared to superficial veins, as they can be transferred to lungs. Their transfer to lungs can cause a blocked supply of oxygen to the heart which can cause death. So, its better that such clots are treated with enoxaparin through injections which can instantly thin the coagulated blood. Warfarin can also be given through pills but it takes some time for it to acquire healing levels in the body. During that time, it is given through injectable and oral versions so that the symptoms of the ailment are reduced.

Female Infertility - Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment

Infertility is defined as an inability to conceive or carry a pregnancy to term, after one year of unprotected, regular intercourse. The cause of infertility can be traced to either or both of the male and female partner. Sometimes the cause of infertility remains unknown.

Female infertility accounts for 35-40 % of overall infertility. Treatment depends upon the specific identifiable cause. Ayurvedic herbal treatment of female infertility is discussed below.

Abortion Clinic

Ovulation disorder is the most common female infertility factor. This most often occurs because of a disturbance in the reproductive system involving the hypothalamus (an area in the brain), pituitary gland, adrenal glands, thyroid gland, the ovaries and the uterus. This disturbed cycle can be normalized by using traditional Ayurvedic formulations like Chandraprabha Vati, Yograj Guggulu, Ashokarishta and Dashmoolarishta. Herbal medicines useful in this disorder are: Ashoka( Saraca indica), Dashmool (Ten Roots), Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), Aloes (Aloe vera), Guggulu (Commiphora mukul), Hirabol (Commiphora myrrha) and Harmal (Paganum harmala).

Ovulation problems caused due to polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) can be treated using Latakaranj ( Caesalpinia crista), Varun ( Crataeva nuevula), Kanchnaar (Bauhinia variegata) and Guggulu. Thyroid gland disorders are treated using Arogya Vardhini, Kanchnaar Guggulu and Punarnava Guggulu. Adrenal gland disorders are treated using Gokshuradi Guggulu, Gomutra Haritaki, Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa), Saariva (Hemidesmus indicus) and Deodar (Cedrus deodara). Pituitary gland tumors (which secrete excess prolactin) may be treated with Kanchnaar Guggulu, Panch Tikta Ghruta Guggulu, Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Mogra (Jasminum sambac) and Musta (Cyperus rotundus). Diabetes is treated using medicines like Gudmar (Gymnema sylvestre) and Amalaki. Obesity is treated using Medohar Guggulu, Amalaki, Psyllium (Plantago ovata) and Lashuna (Alium sativum). Psychological stress is treated using Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), Jatamansi (Nardostachys jatamansi) and Vacha (Acorus calamus). Excessive exercise and weight loss too can result in ovulation problems.

Premature ovarian failure (POF), though comparatively rare, is an important cause of female infertility. This condition can be treated using Ashoka, Dashmool, Chandraprabha, Shatavari, Guduchi, and Jeevanti ( Leptadania reticulata). These medicines can be given in addition to hormone replacement therapy.

Blocked fallopian tubes, adhesions (scar tissue) and pelvic inflammatory disease may also result in infertility. Medicines like Kaishor Guggulu, Triphala Guggulu, Guduchi, Kutki (Picrorrhiza kurroa) and Punarnava can be used in these conditions. A treatment modality called "Uttar-Basti" may also be used for blocked tubes and minimal adhesions . Large fibroids and gross structural abnormalities are best treated surgically.

Cervical mucus can react with the sperm, either blocking penetration (usually due to an infection) or killing the sperm (because of the presence of antibodies). These conditions can be treated using herbal medicines like Vata (Ficus bengalensis), Ashwatha (Ficus religiosa), Udumbara (Ficus glomerata), Plaksha (Ficus infectora), Shirisha (Albizia lebec),Haridra (Curcuma longa), Yashtimadhuk (Glycerrhiza glabra), Saariva and Manjishtha (Rubia cordifolia).

Women who are underweight or have a small, undeveloped uterus or cervix can be treated using medicines like Shatavari, Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Vidarikand (Pueraria tuberosa), Ksheervidari (Ipomoea digitata), Bala (Sida cordifolia), Samudrashok (Argyria speciosa), Nagbala (Grewia hirsuta), Shrungatak (Trapa natans) and Yashtimadhuk.

Some women do conceive, but are unable to retain the pregnancy till full-term. This can happen because of an incompetent os (a loose opening of the cervix - the mouth of the uterus), genetic abnormalities in the fetus (unborn child), or because of an immunological reaction to infections (usually referred to as TORCH infections). Surgical ligation, along with other treatment and complete bed-rest, usually takes care of an incompetent os. Immunomodulatory treatment can be given using Guduchi, Kantakari (Solanum xanthocarpum), Brihati (Solanum indicum), Gokshur (Tribulus terrestris), Bhrungraj (Eclipta alba), Yashtimadhuk, Pippali (Piper longum), Bharangi (Clerodendrum serriatum), Padmakashtha (Prunus cerasoides), Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata) and Manjishtha.

The ancient Ayurvedic texts mention various herbal formulations which can be given throughout the nine months of pregnancy to prevent abortion, and help optimum healthy growth of the fetus. Known physical and organ defects and genetic abnormalities running in the family, can be addressed using these medicines a few months in advance of attempting conception. For example, some couples may want to improve skin color, height or intelligence; yet others may want to avoid heart disease and lung problems like asthma, in their future children. Even healthy couples may make use of such herbal formulations.

This is, thus, a short description of the various causes of female infertility and their Ayurvedic herbal treatment.

Uterine Cancer - Symptoms, Causes and Treatments

Uterine Cancer is one of the deadliest cancers, which actually start in the lining of the cells in the uterus. The womb or the uterus is a vital part of the reproductive system in a woman.

Type of Uterine Cancer

Abortion Clinic

That cancer may denote various types of cancers, which occur in a woman's uterus. Uterine sarcomas, commonly known to be leiomyosarcomas are a type of uterine cancer, which occurs in the muscular layer of a uterus. Endometrial cancer is another type of uterine cancer, which originates from the cells that are located in the glands of the uterine lining or the endometrium. Cervical cancer is a different type of uterine cancer, which is known to arise from the lower portion of a uterus. It extends to the transitional zone of a woman's cervix and connecting to the upper part of her vagina.

Symptoms

A woman having uterine cancer can notice some common symptoms. However, they may differ from person to person depending upon the disease in consideration. Commons symptoms include painful or difficult urination, unusual discharge or vagina bleeding, extreme pain during the time of having sexual intercourse, a typical pelvic lump, abnormal weight loss, pain in the pelvic region and having never breast-fed. In fact, uterine cancer occurs rarely before menopause, during which a woman have regular menstrual periods.

It generally occurs during the time when the regular menstruation cycle stops. If a woman notices reappearance of bleeding at this stage of her life, she should immediately bring it to the attention of her general physician, as there may be a possibility of uterine cancer.

The most common symptom of uterine cancer is abnormal bleeding from a woman's uterus after her menopause. The bleeding may be in the form of a blood streaked, watery discharge containing more blood. In some cases, a woman may experience lower abdominal pain too.

Causes

There are different causes of uterine cancer, which have been discovered till date. Diabetes, obesity, polycystic ovaries having prolonged anovulation, nulliparity or having borne not a single child, lack of menstruation, extended usage of tamoxifen for the treatment of breast cancers and taking unopposed estrogen without progestin are some of the valid causes of uterine cancer.

Diagnosing the Disease

The cancer can be diagnosed by endometrial and endocervical sampling. Apart from these techniques, vaginal ultrasonography is also used to detect the thickness of the endometrium because increased thickness of the uterus may determine some serious cancerous change. Apart from this, the Pap test can also be an accurate way detecting uterine cancer but cannot be termed as a reliable source.

Treatment

The treatment of this cancer is performed on the basis of grade and stage of the cancer. Abdominal hysterectomy is a standard therapy, which involves in the surgical removal of the woman's uterus along with both the ovaries and fallopian tubes, washing of the abdominal cavity to determine malignant cells and the selective removal of the aortic and pelvic lymph nodes. Many doctors prefer usage of hormone therapy that removes the possibility of metastatic cancer. Again, women also opt for radiation therapy for the treatment of their uterine cancer.

Although treatment is a possibility for Uterine Cancer, still you should take immediate action after noticing the symptoms. Don't let it reach a level from where it cannot be cured!

Pregnant Women - What Should You Do Or Avoid For a Healthy Baby?

In the lifetime of a woman, the best moments are when she becomes a mother. It's a feeling that only a mother can explain. When women conceive and are due to deliver in 9 months there are a number of worries and anticipations along with excitement and delight cropping in one's mind and heart. Every pregnant woman would want to have a healthy baby first and then would desire for either of the sex, colour, or appearance. Health comes first and should be the most primary concern of any expecting mother. Taking care of yourself and for your expected child during pregnancy is the most important focus during that period.

Pregnant women must follow a certain diet and lifestyle and avoid a few things to have a healthy baby. She must first and foremost stay healthy by eating the right food items. She must not only eat for herself but should eat for her baby as well. A good nutritious diet consisting of bread, vegetables, fruits, milk and milk products, meat and protein food should be consumed on a daily basis. Pregnant women must also drink lots of water and have lots of calcium content food items. Some of the good sources of calcium are almonds, dried beans; vegetable those are dark green in colour, like spinach and broccoli, milk and milk products, sardines, peas and brussel sprouts.

Abortion Clinic

Around 30 mg's of iron is required for pregnant women to build up their haemoglobin level. Iron can be found in food products of red meat, eggs, dry fruits, salmon, dried beans and peas among others. Pregnant women should have a healthy diet and along with this must also have a healthy lifestyle to have a safe delivery and a healthy baby. They must sleep well, be in good spirits, should be surrounded with bliss and a stress free environment. They should further exercise regularly, and have a daily routine walk to flex their muscles and bones. This helps pregnant women have a smooth and easy delivery.

Pregnant women must also avoid a few things in order to have a health baby. They must first let go of all their bad habits, if any, of abuse, namely, alcohol or drug abuse. They should avoid taking any stress upon themselves mentally or physically. OTC or over the counter medicines must also be avoided. Consuming a lot of hot or spicy food items, tea, caffeine, and vitamin a supplements, effect the proper development of the fetus.

Women who are pregnant tend to feel over heated because of hormonal changes and thus must avoid any additional heating from outside. By this we mean Jacuzzi's, Sauna or sun bathing must be avoided, as it has been found that women with over heated bodes tend to deliver baby's with neural defects.

Thus all the above points must be kept in mind by a pregnant woman. Things that need to be avoided must be taken seriously as they have a direct or indirect effect at the normal growth and development of the baby in the womb.

Women's Infertility - The Causes and How They Can Be Treated

First, let's understand what is infertility?

Infertility in women refers to the inability of a woman to conceive and hence give birth to a baby.

Abortion Clinic

The chances of a woman getting pregnant are only 30% during a particular menstrual cycle. Not only that but even when the conception occurs, only 50 - 60% of the pregnancies progress pass 20th week. This inability (in fecundity) can be because of abnormalities which can cause miscarriages.

The Causes of Infertility

There are a number of medical conditions that can contribute to infertility in women. These may be due to physical incapacity, physical defects or some kind of functional faults. These disorders hamper ovulation, damage the fallopian tubes or may cause some hormonal difficulties.

Infertility can result from bad health of the woman because of some ailment. The physical defects which result in infertility can be of the reproductive organs and the genitals can be present at the time of birth or it can also be accidental, which can further lead to deformity or slumped womb, rigidity of the hymen or disintegration of the fallopian tubes.

Certain psychosomatic factors like tension, emotional stress, anxiety, mental depression, and fear can also lead to what is called as psychosomatic infertility. But such conditions are mostly temporary and they can be corrected by using psychotherapy.

Here is a list of some of the medical conditions which can cause infertility in women:

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID): The PID is one of the major reasons accounting for female fertility all over the world. The Pelvic inflammatory disease is caused due the infections which are caused by bacteria that can affect the female reproductive system.

These bacterial infections occur due to:

-Sexually transmitted diseases

-Tuberculosis of the pelvic region

-Abortions in a non-sterile environment

-Rupturing of the appendix

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is an abnormal growth of the cells normally lining the uterus, to the other areas, thereby, causing irregular bleeding and pain. These cells are mostly non cancerous.

The cysts that arise may cause infertility in many ways, such as:

-They interfere with the release of the egg from the ovaries.

-They can block the passage of the eggs in the fallopian tubes.

Uterine Fibroids

Tumors in the uterus are very common in women, who are in their 30s. These tumors are called as Uterine Fibroids. These fibroids damage the lining of the uterus which may further result in change in the position of the cervix, or blockage of the fallopian tube or distortion of the uterus shape, thereby leading to infertility.

Early Menopause

This is a very rare but unexplained reason for infertility. In some women, menstruation stops quiet early than the normal age. It is only assumed that the regular supply of eggs gets depleted.

There are certain other problems that can also lead to infertility:

-Scarring of the uterus or abdomen
-Inborn abnormalities
-Drinking, smoking, alcohol and drugs

Treatment for infertility

One of the very important formulas to treat the infertility is a healthy life style with planned sexual activity and managed emotions and stress.

For Pelvic inflammatory disease or endometriosis an in-depth report on the causes and the diagnosis should be done. This should be followed by the treatment by a surgery, or drugs or may be both.

To repair the blockage of the fallopian tubes, surgery can be done.

Drugs like gonadotrophins and clomiphene can be given to induce ovulation.

Techniques like intra cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) or vitro fertilization (IVF) can be used.

Retinal Detachment - Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

The retina of eyes is attached to the tissues which lie under the eye and the separation of the two is known as retinal detachment. The common causes of this situation is the breakage of the retina or the tearing of it. The breakage of the retina may be caused by the detachment of the vitreous gel from the retina. The two their part of the eye is filled with the vitreous gel and it is this gel that covers the entire retina and if the strength of the retina is fragile, it leads to its breakage. If the blood vessels in the retina are present in the breakage, it causes bleeding of the eye. However, most of the retinal detachments that happen are not a cause of injury.

If the retina tears, it gives way to the vitreous gel to get into the back of the retina. It is this layer of accumulated gel that causes the detachment of the retina from the eye. As more and more of the gel gets accumulated and layered behind the retina, the detachment increases and in some cases the entire retina is detached. This happens when the tear is very big. The retinal detachment is mostly prominent in a single eye. It does not affect both the eyes. When such an incident happens, even the other eye is thoroughly checked for any signs of tears or breaks in the retina. This is done to safeguard the second eye so that preventive measures can be taken.

Abortion Clinic

The patient who is experiencing the symptoms of retinal detachment sees flashing lights in the initial stages. A person who has this symptom has to immediately see the eye doctor without further delay. The retina could be saved in many cases if shown on time. The effect of flashing light is caused by the loosening of the vitreous which allows the gel to get in contact with the retina. There is also the symptom where the person can visualize floaters. This is caused when the vitreous gel gets solid to even an insignificant extent. If treated earlier itself, the treatment is much more effective.

The treatment for retinal detachment is done with the help of laser therapy where the holing and tearing of the retina is treated. Another way of treatment is by freezing the retina. While the retina is frozen, even the gel freezes and it is thus prevented from layering at the back of the retina. This eventually prevents the retinal detachment in the initial stages. In other worse cases, where the retina is almost detached, a surgery is immediately performed. These eye surgeries are of three types:

Scleral buckling

Pneumatic retinopexy

Vitrectomy

The holes and tearing that is caused in the retina has to be treated as the vision of the person is blurred or in some cases partially blinded. The impairment in the vision can aggravate and cause permanent blindness if not treated immediately. Thus it is advised to always take good care of the eyes.

Women's Health - The Most Common Causes of Stress and How to Handle Them

According to Oxford Dictionary, stress can be defined as "A state of affair involving demand on physical or mental energy". This refers to a condition where normal mental and physical health of an individual is affected. When this unpleasant condition continues without a pause and changes, then 'stress condition' occurs naturally.

When stress starts playing an integral role in your life, then it results in risky mind and body disorders. In today's world, you face stress at many places. Each and everyone are under stress at some point. Pressure at work place, relationship problems, meeting deadlines and having a tension-filled life may grow stress in your mind.

Abortion Clinic

Common Causes of Stress in Woman

Nowadays, women are more prone to stress than men are. This is mostly because the former want to show their ability to wield a man's job while simultaneously playing the role of a wife, mother and a daughter. So, she is under immense pressure and struggles to cope up with all these roles in life.

When a woman faces a lot of workload, she falls in the hands of stress, which may break her. They mostly stressed when someone notices their weak points. For example, if she is overweight then, she may get stressed and feel shame of going out. Relationship demand is another reason, why women are easily stressed. However, the thing, which should be in mind, is that it is in your hand to convert the stress. Once you realize this, you are naturally going to experience a positive energy.

Art of handling stress

-Have confidence over yourself

Women can handle stress by very simple and easy techniques. You need to understand that you have the ability to handle multi-tasks. If you are incapable of handling the pressure, then you are a wonder of nature. If you are met with heavy workload, then you have to agree it as a challenge in your work and do it instead of becoming a victim of stress.

-Without stress, life is tedious

You need to understand that without stress, life would be tedious and dull. Face stress by first recognising it and then dealing with it. When you feel nervous, stressed or angry, just take a nice bath, do some breathing exercise or take a deep breath. Even, some simple relaxing exercise can work for you.

-Share your sorrows

Convert your anger into smiles. There is an old saying that "When we share happiness to others it gets doubled. When we share our sorrows it diminishes or vanishes from out heart". So, you can just phone your sister or friend for sharing your feelings or stress you face in your life. Prioritize the work. When you are in an overwhelming situations get out of the unwanted duties. Learn to say "no" to the work, which you can't do when you are overloaded with work.

-Spare sometime for fun

And don't forget to spare sometime for fun. If you sit alone during leisure time, it may increase unhappiness. So, you should volunteer in some social activities or visit your neighbour. Avoid using drugs to reduce your stress. Just try to be good to yourself.

One thing you have to remember is the word 'Relax'. Forget about winning always. Learn how to be patient and stress will never be a problem to you.

Asthma - Causes, Symptoms and Treatments

Asthma is not caused due to a specific reason, but there are various aspects which lead to this state. Causative reasons which lead to asthma are surroundings, hereditary and even nutritional regime.

The common perilous aspects of the growth of asthma are:

Abortion Clinic

- Premature birth.
- Exposure of the child to the smoke of tobacco, especially through the mother.
- If the weight of the child at the time of birth is low.
- In case there is a record in the family of asthma, or any other sensitive conditions called 'atopic conditions', like 'hay fever, allergic conjunctivitis or eczema'.
- The presence of 'bronchiolitis' in childhood, and growth of any other 'atopic condition'.

The indications of this condition can get activated by various peripheral aspects like:

- Climatic conditions, like chilly atmosphere could cause asthma.
- Emotional aspects, like anxiety, pressure or even expressing amusement can cause asthma.
- Infections in the respiratory tract that is the chest and the airways. This is primarily due to viruses.
- Parasites, fungi and bacteria could also be accountable to trigger this condition in a few cases.
- Medications, medicines like the NSAIDs that is 'nonsteriod anti - inflammatory drugs' like the 'ibuprofen and aspirin' which are widely known can also lead to asthma. There is another medication called the 'beta - blockers' which is given in case of 'high blood pressure' is also known to cause asthma.
- Allergens, like dust mites, fur or feathers of animals and pollen also causes asthma.
- Presence of sulphites in food, sulphites is a natural substance which is found specific foods. It is also used as a preservative. A few foods and drinks with a high value of sulphite are shrimp, foods which are processed, wine and beer.
- Irritants which are carried by the wind, like pollution in the atmosphere, smoke from the cigarette and fumes from chemicals also cause asthma.

Before an asthma attack occurs there is an indication that is something occurs biologically known as inflammation. This is one of the conditions in which the immune system aids in fighting diseases aligned with bacteria or viruses.

Symptoms:

The indications of asthma could take place without clear reasoning. The indications comprise of:

1 - Coughing, especially during the night.
2 - Breathlessness.
3 - Wheezing.
4 - Feeling of tightness in the chest.

The time period and the harshness of the indications are random and inconsistent and at times worsen with working out or even at night. In case of a severe asthmatic attack, the indications start building up gradually taking 6 to 48 hours. It is important to keep a check on the indication as they would worsen, the signs are:

1 - The wheezing increases.
2 - The level of the 'peak expiratory flow rate' drops.
3 - Restlessness.
4 - The pulse rate increases.

The characteristic indications of a severe asthmatic attack comprise of:

1 - Difficulty in talking and breathing.
2 - Tightening of the skin near the neck and chest.
3 - Increase in the pulse rate.
4 - Flaring of the nostrils while trying to breathe.
5 - Fingernails and lips tend to turn blue.

Treatment:

There are many treatments of asthma. First comes the 'Personal Asthma Plan', here the person suffering from asthma is told everything he or she should keep in mind and told about self care, symptoms of an attack and various aspects of asthma. Then is the 'Medical Treatment - the stepwise approach', here the treatment is a step wise procedure, depending on the harshness of the condition.

There are 5 stages in this treatment; they are 'mild intermittent asthma', 'regular prevention therapy', and 'add - on therapy', 'persistent poor control and continuous or frequent use of oral steroids'.

The other treatment to treat asthma is called the 'Exercise - induced asthma', here a medication is given sometime before exercising, the pattern of exercise is altered and the condition is treated accordingly.

Self-Improvement - Real Courage

It takes more courage to be a person of peace than it does to be a man of war. It is more difficult to walk away from a fight then it is to throw the first punch. Why is that? I think many times it is because of pride. We think people will look down on us or call us a whimp if we refuse to fight. It is true that some people will make fun of us. But their opinion is not important. Many people will respect us for our courage, self-control, and strength. These are the opinions we need to listen to.

Sometimes as much as we try to avoid it, the fight/war is inevitable. But does that mean there has to be violence? NO! Think about how Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. fought his war. He fought it with words and ideas. One can kill the soldier but he can't kill the soldier's idea. Dr. King's messages of racial reconciliation ring just as strong today as they did the day they flowed from his mouth. Violence is the last choice of action, an action we hope never has to be taken. Violence is never desirable.

Abortion Clinic

Compare this with the disturbed people who bomb abortion clinics. Is that a proper way to fight? NO! I hate abortion. It is murder and a sin before Almighty God but I would never bomb an abortion clinic. Two sins do not make a right. We need to battle the abortionists in the arena of ideals. How would Jesus battle abortionists? By hitting them? How about killing them? No, Jesus would tell them the truth. He would tell them it is murder. He would tell them that God has special plans for the unborn even before they are formed in the womb. He would tell them that even though they are sinning that He always loves them. Jesus knew how to fight and that is with TRUTH and LOVE!

To Be Or Not to Be - Politically Correct

When I was young, life seemed very simple. Some things were wrong, and some things were right. That's just the way life was, and you could count on it being that way tomorrow, the next day, and, unless something very unusual happened, forever.

I remember being impressed with the wonder of living in a country where you could believe whatever you wanted to believe, say whatever you wanted to say, and do, as long as you didn't infringe upon the rights of another person, just about anything you wanted to do, and no one could stop you.

Abortion Clinic

Times have changed, folks. Today, you must be politically correct, or you will be put down by, not only your enemies, but by your peers and by your government. Free speech seems to exist today, only for those who are politically correct.

For several years now, I have noticed the growing use of the term "Politically Correct." Heaven knows, I like to be correct just as often as the next person, but what in the world does it mean to be politically correct?

Long ago, I decided that abortion was wrong. I believed, and still believe that the taking of innocent life is murder. Today, I am called politically incorrect for that belief. Although I could stop someone from going into a grocery store, or a gas station and probably be charged only with disturbing the peace or a misdemeanor, trying to stop someone from going into an abortion clinic has now become a felony. It's okay to take an innocent life, but not okay to try to stop it. Something seems rotten in America.

Not too long ago, I, and the rest of my peers believed that homosexuality was a deviant life style. We knew it existed, but we abhorred the practice, and would never have dreamed that it would become a front page as well as a dinner table topic.

Today, I am stunned to see homosexuality promoted as a desirable alternate life style in our public schools. I known three young men who call themselves gays, but they are actually the unhappy people I know. One recently died of AIDS, and the misery and suffering the other two have gone through is enough to convince me that not one single tax dollars should ever be spent to promote this life style. If you dare protest its spread into the public schools, you are labeled ignorant, a trampler of civil rights, a hate-monger, and a gay-basher. Today, my archaic views on the subject are called politically incorrect.

Not long ago, I was talking to a young girl at a local swimming pool, and asked her if she knew the "Negro" boy that was waving our direction. Indignantly, she replied that I should know better than to call blacks Negroes.

Explaining that "Negro" was a polite term in my day did no good. She, a white, was huffy at me for the rest of the day.

I'm not quite sure what I learned from this particular encounter. When I meet a person of Japanese or Chinese descent on the street, do I refer to them as Yellows? Are all Indians, Reds? For that matter, I don't think most of us look at a young Caucasian and say, "Do you know that White over there?"

One thing I did learn is that political correctness changes at least as often as we change Presidents. It is now politically correct to call members of the Negroid race "blacks," but I seem to remember, just a short time ago, that President Bush got into all kinds of hot water by referring to one of his small grandsons as "the little brown one."

Only yesterday, it seems, divorce was a no-no, except in very unusual circumstances. This week, a man in our church who recently divorced his wife, also a member of our church, announced his engagement to a single lady who is very active in the church. Between them, these people have 7 children. Am I being politically incorrect to wonder why, if God is Who we say He is, these people couldn't have solved the problems in the unions they were in, rather than forming new ones with, undoubtedly, new problems lying in wait ahead?

It is no longer politically correct, I am told, to hold anyone responsible for his or her own crimes. We must, instead, ferret out the real culprits; the alcoholic parents, abusive teachers, or uncaring spouses. Heaven forbid that we expect any kind of atonement from the criminal. Instead, we pat their heads and work to build up their self-esteem.

Oh yes, I almost forgot the environment. In this case, you are usually politically incorrect, no matter where you stand. If you like forests, and would like to see them protected so there will be a few trees around for your grandchildren to see, you are an ogre out to snatch food from the starving children of out of work loggers and mill workers. There is no point in pointing out that better management might lead to a sustained yield that would let us have both forests and jobs. The group doing the yelling will not shut up long enough to hear your opinion, anyway.

Will Rogers once said, "I only know what I read in the papers." but, if we limit ourselves today to what we read in the newspapers, or even to what we see on TV, we are apt to be very confused people, indeed.

I am beginning to suspect that both of the terms, politically correct and politically incorrect, have been coined simply as convenient phrases to hurl at those who disagree with you. If we are really smart, we will take them, and use them to our own advantage.

Keep on reading the papers. You never know when they'll be covering a protest march led by you or me.

To Be Or Not to Be - Politically Correct

Jeanne Gibson writes on a variety of topics from her home in Springfield, OR. Her latest, probably misguided attempt to become somewhat politically correct is to start learning about solar power. Snuffing Out Stupidity

If you want to kick the habit, who do you turn to? Your family doctor? Your local hospital? The American Lung Association?

Chances are that, if you want to quit smoking, you can name off the top of your head a number of medical authorities you can go to for assistance. But I don't think I'm going out on a limb here if I said that it's unlikely you would call your local abortionist for help in conquering your addiction to nicotine.

Abortion Clinic

Obviously, though, the American Cancer Society doesn't see it that way. The organization, which is synonymous with the crusade against lung cancer, awarded a grant to a Planned Parenthood affiliate in Iowa to tell clients to quit smoking. According to the news agency LifeNews.com, the ,000 grant is meant to "train clinic staff to provide smoking-cessation assistance to patients."

Lest you think this is Planned Parenthood's first foray into anti-tobacco politics, you should know that LifeNews.com is reporting that Planned Parenthood of Pasadena began a program last year known as "SmokeBusters." The anti-smoking program was designed for students in the first through the fifth grades and was supposed to help children "understand about making healthy choices."

I've got news for the kids--if they really want to stay healthy, they'll stay away from the sexual propaganda pushed by Planned Parenthood. The nation's largest abortion operation promotes the idea that you can have sex without the natural consequences of childbirth. Teens who follow the "let's have sex anytime, anywhere" mantra are likely to end up with an STD that cannot only be an inconvenience, but a killer as well. They also may wind up pregnant, leading to the temptation to abort their own offspring.

I think it's pretty clear what's happening here. Planned Parenthood is trying to re-position itself in the marketplace. If you hear the phrase "Planned Parenthood," you're more likely to think of the word "abortion" than "health." By engaging in smoking cessation programs and the like, Planned Parenthood is trying to portray itself as a trustworthy health care provider.

But those who engage in the healing arts should be appalled by the idea of doing anything that would harm--let alone kill--an unborn child. Abortion isn't health care--it's death care. And it's important to point out that, when a woman goes for an abortion, her own health can be jeopardized. The Elliot Institute, an organization which studies the after effects of abortion, reports that, in addition to the risk of physical complications such as sterility or subsequent premature births, abortion has been linked to increased risk of suicide attempts, depression, substance abuse, and child abuse.

If you were told that a single act could increase the risk that you would try to kill yourself, land in a psychiatric hospital, become numb with copious amounts of alcohol or illegal drugs, or physically hurt your child, would you still do it? I'm betting that many women who go in for abortions don't realize the heartache and headaches that they may experience afterward.

And--oh yeah--they may even be more tempted to "light up" afterwards, trying to distract themselves from the fact that their child died--and the death could have been prevented.

I support the American Cancer Society's efforts to do everything possible to eradicate cancer. But I just don't think funding Planned Parenthood furthers the cause. If you feel as I do, I invite you to call the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345 and urge officials there to stop funding Planned Parenthood in the name of women's health.

The Abortion Issue

This is a very difficult topic to approach from any angle. At the heart of it is the matter of life and death. That is what it all boils down to. Does an unborn fetus have the basic right to live? The right to life permeates other issues in our society as well, but none more than that of abortion. I like to think that in all of our hearts, the question of whether or not someone has the right to live is an easy one to answer. The obvious answer would be yes. And yet things are never that simple. The problems arise when one considers the underlying issues that exist. The issue becomes even more difficult when religion is brought into the discussion. One of the driving forces behind the anti abortion movement is the church. To them abortion is murder, plain and simple. In their opinion only God should have the right to decide who lives, and who dies. There is also the concept of an eye for an eye, which is why the death penalty is accepted by some in the religious community as acceptable. This does not apply to abortion, because an unborn child represents the purest form of innocence. The unborn child has not had a chance to harm another or do anything for that matter, because it has not been born yet. So then why should its life be ended before it even begins?

One then has to consider the reasons for why someone would choose to have an abortion. The biggest reason is simply the woman or couple is not ready to be a parent. The pregnancy was not intentional, and the baby is unwanted. Why then would they not opt to put the child up for adoption once it is born? Again, there are many societal issues to that question. The human race is not sitting on the brink of extinction. In fact, quite the opposite is true. Why then bring one more person into this world, to take up space and consume resources? Another reason a woman may opt for abortion over adoption is fear. Fear of what may become of the child. We have all heard horror stories of what has happened to a child in the care of a foster or adoptive family. Rather than risk a horrific life for their unborn child they would rather terminate the pregnancy. The final reason a woman would opt for abortion over having the child is simply to avoid the nine months of pregnancy followed by a painful birth. These may seem like selfish reasons. After all if you don't want a child than be more responsible. Use birth control pills or contraception, and then you don't have to worry about getting pregnant. This could be your opinion, but it still does not change the fact that we have not walked a mile in the other persons shoes. We don't know what the circumstances are and at the end of the day, it is their choice not ours. The woman or couple is the one that has to deal with giving birth and raising the child. Perhaps a woman's choice of abortion is a more noble one. She may be at a point in her life where she realizes that she is not responsible enough to raise a child. Perhaps she is not financially able to raise a child. Opting for abortion rather than having her child starve or go without. Let us not forget the issue of rape. If a woman is raped and a pregnancy is the consequence of that rape than a whole host of new issues come up. She may want an abortion simply because she can not bare the thought of raising the child of a man that did that to her. Maybe she is someone that never planned on having children. Why then should she be forced to raise a child born out of such a violent act, one in which she had no choice? There then are also the genetic component to abortion. A couple may opt for an abortion even though it was a planned pregnancy. The couple may have been trying to have a child, only to find out there is some danger to the mother. Perhaps there is some genetic defect that would warrant abortion. The parents may even be against it only to concede at the doctors behest.

Abortion Clinic

People have other reasons in support of the anti abortion movement. In there mind it is simply wrong to kill a child. In their mind, murder is murder, and so they are against abortion, the death penalty, and so on. The funny thing is that some people get so worked up by the anti abortion movement that they take matters into their own hands. These people are what we call fanatics. They believe so strongly in their cause that they are willing to kill to make their point. Of course they are against abortion, because it is murder and the bible frowns upon murder. An so they choose to murder to make their point? That makes sense. Thus, every now and then we see in the news that someone shot a doctor who performs abortions outside of his clinic. It was not the first time, and I doubt it will be the last. And, yes; I know. An eye for an eye, so they may feel justified, because in their mind they are only killing someone that commits murder on a daily basis.

Then there is the philosophical and medical component to the abortion issue. At what point does and unborn fetus become alive or fit the definition of life? Some would argue that the second the sperm penetrates the egg, the deed is done and life has begun. Others would say that it does not count until the child is out. They would have a strong point simply because we do not celebrate our conception dates in our society, we celebrate the day we left the womb. Thus, each one of us are technically nine months older than our birth dates. There is no clear cut definition of life, but life is generally thought to include the processes of homeostasis, organization, metabolism, growth, adaptation, response to stimuli, and reproduction. How does an unborn fetus stack up from the moment of conception. It exhibits organization, metabolism, adaptation, and growth from the start. One cell divides into two, then, four, then eight, and so forth. This would be the organization as the new life grows. As it divides it grows, it metabolizes to grow. As it continues to develop it will start to respond to stimuli. The ability to reproduce will not come until the child hits puberty. Unless of course the child is a genius and manages to clone him or her self at the age of six. In a sense then it can reproduce before it reaches puberty. Why did I mention this far fetched scenario? Simply, because it helps us get a better grasp on the terms we use to define things. We include reproduction in our list of criteria for life, but what does this really mean? Does this mean then that a machine, that duplicates it self is alive? We will answer that question with a no, although a strong argument can be made that a machine can be alive and that our thoughts about life may be a bit in-accurate. Given the criteria we set to try, and define life an; unborn fetus fits the definition of life from the moment of conception.

We then try to approach the abortion issue from the aspect of awareness. We ask the question, "At what point does the fetus develop a brain"? We ask this, because many feel at this point the fetus qualifies as a living being. Some people believe the brain houses the soul or is the center of who we are. All that we are is dependent upon this most important of all organs. Essentially the brain is a super computer, the most sophisticated one in existence. And we each get one, how lucky are we? Once the fetus gets one of these, then it could be argued that it is now alive. Of course the development of a brain is important, because now we have to wonder if the unborn fetus can feel pain at this point. We all feel pain, because signals are sent to the brain where it is interpreted accordingly. Without a brain then how can it feel the pain of the abortion process? If you can't feel the pain, than there should not be a problem.

Which brings us back to the central question and what the debate comes down to. What we are really concerned about is how we feel about abortion, and not the actual act. Depending on how each one of us was raised, what values we were instilled with, or our own conscience; or lack there off, we formulate our opinion on the subject. The issue is raised and presented to us by others and then we choose sides based upon a number of reasons that are our own. Someone that approaches the issue from a religious base, may feel that abortion is wrong only because their bible tells them so. I doubt the bible mentions abortion directly, but it does frown upon murder. If you approach it from a view point that we are all entitled to live, than you are against abortion based upon a personal moral code. Supporters of the abortion issue tend to think more about the rights of the mother. Its her body and hence her choice. These people tend to think that it is really none of their business and look to science to put their minds at ease. As long as the fetus is not developed enough, than abortions are fine with them. I personally believe that abortions need to be treated on a case by case basis. There are always extenuating circumstances, information that most of us are not aware of. Do I feel that a woman has the right to choose? Yes, I do, but as I pointed out earlier, the father should be included in the decision. In cases of rape, than of course the decision lies solely with the mother. In cases where the mother's life my be in danger, than again I agree with the right to have an abortion. In all other cases, I still believe in a woman's right to choose. I'm realistic and I know that not everyone should be a parent. In deed there are a lot of people in this world that should not have children, in some cases there should be a law against them reproducing. And, yet they keep on having children. You need a license to drive, conceal a weapon, permits to wipe your own @#$; and yet anyone can have a kid. So, even though I think that someone may have been irresponsible; they should then have to live with the consequences. That situation can be harder on the kid than the parent. I am in favor of abortions being legal in all states, as long as the practice is regulated by agreed upon legislation.

I have one last thing to say to those supporters of the anti abortion movement. It is your right to take that stance on this issue. So, I support your right to protest, and speak up on the issue. Where I draw the line is those of you out there who feel the need to stand on the side of the road holding up signs with pictures of aborted fetuses on them. I can imagine an aborted fetus is not a pretty sight. Blood and guts usually never is. That being said, it is one thing to share your view point, it is another to cause children to cry and have night mares. You gotta keep in mind that children are seeing those pictures as well. I have seen this happen. Some anti abortion activists were holding up some pictures on the side of the road, a few days before Christmas, along a busy intersection. These were very big pictures, easily seen from far away. My four year old niece was in the car, and fortunately I was able to shield her view from this grizzly scene. Making a statement is one thing, holding up disturbing photos in public is another.

Chemical Pregnancy: Diagnosis and Treatment

Symptoms

There are usually no symptoms of chemical pregnancy. It is diagnosed by a rising titre of HCG in urine or blood. However some women may start to have some symptoms of pregnancy like breast tenderness, morning sickness and fatigue. These symptoms are usually felt by women who have been pregnant before.

Abortion Clinic

In chemical pregnancy these symptoms will usually resolve by six weeks and this is shortly followed by the periods. However the bleeding is usually more severe, and is associated with passage of clots or severe cramping pain.

Diagnosis

Chemical pregnancy is often missed because women do not even realise that they are pregnant, and assume the bleeding that occurs with end of chemical pregnancy as normal periods. Hence they go undiagnosed in more than 50% of cases. In women who have used the pregnancy test early in pregnancy, chemical pregnancy is usually diagnosed when the HCG levels are found to be falling. Normally HCG levels should double every two-three days during early pregnancy.

If the doctor notices that the HCG levels are falling, then there is a requirement for an Ultrasound to visualise the uterus. On an USG it is possible to check for the gestational sac and embryonic cardiac activity, which will be absent in cases of chemical pregnancy.

Treatment

Since this condition remains undiagnosed most of the times, most women do not undergo or require any treatment. Women who are found to have this condition are usually monitored with serial HCG tests. If the HCG remains stable or is increasing, then a miscarriage may not be imminent and there are chances that the pregnancy could last to term. But if the HCG is falling, then a miscarriage is imminent and there is actually nothing much anybody can do in these circumstances.

However women who are diagnosed to have this condition will do better if they undergo a thorough check up to look for problems like uterine deformities. Women who may be suffering from specific causes like uterine fibroids may benefit from treatments like fibroid surgery or hormonal therapy.

Future Outlook For Pregnancy

It is not a recurrent condition. The chances of recurrent chemical pregnancies are very rare and most women who have had a chemical pregnancy will go on to have successful outcomes in subsequent pregnancies. However women who have recurrent chemical pregnancies may be suffering some reproductive problems and hence should be evaluated by a reproductive health specialist.

5 Essential Nutrients For A Better Heart Health

You are what you eat. What you eat affects your well being and long life. The heart is what keeps one going and as long as the heart is healthy and lively, the chances of death are comparatively lower. Some foods are known for their ability to promote the health of the heart. A healthy diet is one that has the five essential nutrients that promote heart health. The five nutrients for a healthy heart are:

1. Omega -3 fatty acids: Omega -3 fatty acids are capable of preventing heart disease. There are three omega -3 acids. The most important among these for a healthy heart is DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid). They lower the level of fats in the blood, such as triglycerides and raise the level of good cholesterol in the blood. It regulates the rate of heart best and lowers the blood pressure to improve the flow of blood through the arteries. Salmon are an excellent source of DHA.

2. Soluble fiber: There are various types of fibers. The vegetables found in whole wheat and in vegetables are insoluble fibers. These insoluble fibers keep colon cancer at bay and make you regular at work. The soluble fibers are those that work to lower the risk of heart disease. The soluble fibers are found in oats, fruits and legumes and they are known to lower the cholesterol levels in the blood, including the bad cholesterol levels. The bad cholesterols are responsible for degeneration of heart tissue.

3. Folate: The Vitamin B- complex, especially folate, is effective in reducing the heart disease risk. They do so by reducing the levels of homocysteine, which irritates the walls of blood vessels and causes increased inflammation associated to atherosclerosis in the blood stream. Even though your blood cholesterol levels may be low, high levels of homocysteine increases the risk of heart disease. Folate is present in green leafy vegetables, legumes, orange juice. The intake of folate reduces the level of homocysteine to reduce the risks.

4. Antioxidants: In the body, there are small fragments of oxygen called free radicals that damage the walls of the arteries, contributing to atherosclerosis and other heart diseases. Antioxidants reduce the damage by free radicals by reacting with the free radicals to stabilize them, thus preventing them from acting on the artery walls. Therefore, by taking in antioxidants, the damage due to oxidants can be reduced greatly. This keeps the arteries clear and free to allow free flow of blood. Fruits, vegetables and juices are the primary sources of antioxidants. Vitamin C and beta-carotene are a few examples of anti- oxidants.

5. Vitamin D: Vitamin D is essential for the heart to stay healthy. Deficiency of Vitamin D can cause heart disease, metabolic syndrome and high blood pressure. The rate of death due to heart disease is lower in those with an adequate level of Vitamin D in their body.

Parkinson's Disease - Causes, Symptoms and Treatments

Parkinson's disease builds up slowly, often starting with a barely visible tremor in just one hand. Even though a tremor is most commonly associated with Parkinson's disease, it normally ends up in the slowing and freezing of body movements. It is a neurological disorder that causes muscle tremor, weakness and stiffness.

The characteristic signs are; trembling, rigid posture, and slow movement. Speech also often becomes slurred and mumbled, and thus difficult to follow. The patient might have little or no expression on the face or might not even swing the arms at all while walking, and could also have an unbalanced walk. Its effects worsen as the disease progresses.

Abortion Clinic

Unfortunately there is no cure yet for this disease, although many medicines can help treat and ease the symptoms, and in some cases these treatments might entail a surgical procedure.

Causes

Parkinson's disease is caused by the degeneration of or damage to the nerve cells in the brain. Many of the symptoms of this disease are because of lack of a chemical, called dopamine, in the brain, which acts as a messenger. This happens when particular brain cells that create dopamine, deteriorate or die. But even after a lot of careful research by scientists, it still isn't still clear as to what really triggers the drop in the production of dopamine. It is believed that probably genetic transmutations and/or environmental pollutants could have a hand in leading to Parkinson's disease.

Symptoms

Parkinson's disease has different symptomatic effects from person to person. These symptoms, at the advent of the disease, may be slight and can be unseen for months or even years. These signs usually start on one side of the body and generally remain the worst on that side of the body itself. Parkinson's signs and symptoms may consist of the following:

1- A person might keep shaking, which come across as tremors, which usually start off in a hand. These tremors tend to spread to the entire arm, or just to the neck region, when the head shakes continuously, or also the legs, when the gait of the person completely changes, making it unbalanced and awkward.

2- A person might move extremely slowly, compared to the normal speed of movement. The ability to make voluntary movement could diminish. This could make life's tasks and jobs time consuming and complicated. The steps taken during a walk might become short and the feet might scuff. The feet may also freeze up, making it very tough to take a step.

3- The muscles could get rigid and stiff, in the limbs and also the neck. This rigidity could be very severe amounting to a lot of pain, further limiting any kind of movements.

4- Posture may become stooped and an imbalance in standing or walking or even sitting postures can also be seen in the latter stages of the disease.

5- Involuntary automatic movements such as blinking, smiling, moving arms while walking, and other unconscious movements etc., are slowly lost. Some people may stare in a fixative manner, with expressionless faces and eyes that don't blink. Some may not gesture and may seem lifeless.

6- There are marked changes in speech delivery, making it very soft and even inaudible, or fast and/or in monotone, even repeating words, or dragging them, or hesitation before speaking.

7-Later on as the disease progresses, some people start having problems with memory and clarity of thoughts.

Treatments

Various treatments for example, medications such as levodopa, Dopamine agonists, MAO B inhibitors, Catechol O-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitors, etc. are administered to either create dopamine, or something dopamine-like, or help in its natural generation and preserve the existing dopamine secreted. Some drugs also reduce tremors in the body parts and also calm the mind.

Physical therapy also helps for general good health and better mobility. Some surgeries might also be done such as Deep brain stimulation, which is most common in order to treat the disease. It entails inserting an electrode deep within the parts of the brain that control motor-movements. It is used for patients at an advanced stage of the disease. This kind of treatment has a lot of risks involved, as it is intrusive and uses the implanting of foreign objects, so the patient's guardians and if possible the patient, must think rationally before opting for this treatment.

Respect

Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul, was right. It begins here. Most of society's ills and problems stem from the lack of respect. That's quite a statement. Lack of respect for-

o God,

Abortion Clinic

o authority,

o community,

o self

God:

When we lose respect for God, we feel that we can do anything without God. We begin to second-guess God in our ability to understand the mysteries of our faith or the universe. We begin to distance God as somehow not involved and only 'watching from a distance' or no longer a factor. And yet there are many things that 'civilized' modern man has been able to accomplish seemingly without God's help. Don't be fooled.

Just when you think you don't need God is exactly the time you need to stop and reflect on all that is made possible because of God's love for man. And remember that God's ways are not man's ways. We fail to recognize God's ways when we think we can explain all that's around us in 'human terms.' Some physicists talk about the 'Big Bang Theory' of how our solar system and universe were formed. Yeah, right. So explain to me the origin of the following:

o The splendor of the seasons; not even close to a big bang.

o The power & might of the oceans' tides

o The electro-magnetic field around the Earth

o The fact that the same side of the moon always faces the Earth

o The miracle of life itself, in all its forms

o The migration of butterflies, birds and animals

o The ozone layer

o Genes & DNA

o One lone leaf falling in the late autumn of 1997 (read on)

o And yes, the limitless innovative power of the human mind, the best computer ever 'invented'

We are talking about order in the world around us and 'big bangs' like a popped firecracker surely don't explain these events to my satisfaction. Only God can; so I best believe that there is a God and leave it at that. And by the way, the same God or power that most of the worlds' religions believe in.

Remember to give thanks to God for everything that happens to you- good, bad or indifferent. Thank you God. We cannot always explain or justify events in our lives. Why me? Why my best friend? Why my family? We don't know. God knows why. Still give thanks to God for His Love is everlasting.

Prayer is the most powerful force on this earth. Try it. It works. Prayer is talking to God, not necessarily with formal repetitious prayers or only at prescribed times or in certain official buildings. It's talking to God when you hope He is listening- in your car, in your walk in the park, at work, and yes even from jail or a hospital bed.'

Many religious fanatics and terrorists (sounds like an oxymoron- religious terrorist) preach & practice destroying peoples of other faiths, and if they die in the process they achieve 'martyrdom.' Surely a God of love would not promote or encourage this type of behavior.

Authority:

When we lose respect for civil authority we lose respect for our society. True. Many of our politicians (and some of our prejudiced police that abuse their authority) don't deserve much of our respect, much less our vote.

What is a family without respect for parents, especially single parents?

What is a school without respect for teachers and school administrators? When that happens you can forget quality education no matter how much money you throw at the problems. Who needs the Internet and computers in every classroom when kids can't even read and do simple arithmetic?

Community:

He who spares the guilty threatens the innocent. -Legal maxim

What is a community without respect for the police? It's called a gang- infested slum. It's called a haven for drug addicts and drug pushers fighting over turf. It's called parents that have given up disciplining their kids. Kids go astray when they purposely deface their own neighborhoods with spray paint graffiti reminding me that they are a couple of notches below the genuine sense of purpose exhibited by wild animals marking their territories with urine.

Self:

"If you don't respect yourself, ain't nobody gonna give a good cahoot."

-The Staple Singers

What are we as citizens of this great country if we lose respect for self? What does it say about our self-respect if a mother with child reports to an abortion clinic to remove an unborn baby from her uterus with no more remorse than removing an appendix or a wart? If our goal is be more Christ-like each day, what are we doing piercing every dangling piece of body flesh and tattooing every other part that doesn't dangle?

Our consumer-based commercial society has taught us how to accept 'slow death' as a way of life. Everyday we practice dying slowly voluntarily with double the pleasure and double the fun through eating disorders, a disregard for a healthy life style and exercise, cigarette smoking, alcoholism, and drug addictions.

We choose to have an illegal drug problem because our society tolerates it and our politicians, up to now, won't enact the tougher laws that would put an end to illegal drug activity. I remember during my travels one day on our plane's approach to the Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia international airport the flight attendant comes over the loudspeaker, "Welcome to Malaysia...the penalty for dealing in illegal drugs is death. Have a nice day." An unsettling silence comes over the main cabin. Imagine if that same announcement was made as planes landed in the United States one year from now? Would it curb the drug trade? Yes. Would it have an impact on street violence? Yes. Would a mother and father become more involved in keeping their kids drug free? Yes. So what's stopping us? Who's stopping us? US!

When we put to death innocent lives still unborn, we are committing the worst atrocity known to man. A mother who has an innocent life aborted while it is still growing inside her womb, in my opinion, is committing the gravest of atrocities against another human being.

When young people commit suicide, they are closing their lives off to God's love. As I heard a country singer say once, "When you commit suicide, you are playing God. He'll take you when He's good & ready, but not any earlier. You see, a place has to be built for you in Heaven, and if you get there before God calls you, you may have to wait outside those Pearly Gates for a long, long time because you do not have a reservation."

Respect means treating others the way you want to be treated. It means being considerate of others or showing deference to them by respecting their wishes, opinions or desires. Respect helps keep the peace. But at the same time, it doesn't mean giving in to something we know is wrong. Respect means treating others with civility, courtesy and dignity instead of ridiculing, embarrassing or hurting others, even if they themselves don't respect themselves.

Respect means being more accepting of differences. Again it doesn't mean giving in to wrong behavior, but it gives us an opportunity to discuss issues and differences of opinion without violence. Respect yourself. Be good to yourself. You deserve it.

Each of us matters to God.

The broad-minded see the truth in different religions; the narrow-minded see only the differences. -Chinese

Breast Cancer - How Often Should You Do a Self-Exam?

One of the most prominent cases of cancer in women, which we hear today, is breast cancer. Cases of breast cancer have increased at an alarming rate and therefore, it is very important that we know the exact signs and symptoms of breast cancer. Every woman should conduct regular self-exam of her breasts. It is recommended that she does it every month and particularly after a few days before her period ends. This is because during that particular time, a woman's breast is found to be less swollen or tender. Doctors also say that a woman should perform self-exam of her breast at the same time of every month, so that she notices exact changes.

Symptoms to Watch Out For

While performing a self-exam of your breasts, you should immediately contact your doctor if you notice any sort of abnormal lump. Again, you should consult them if any of your breasts shows some other symptoms like nipple retraction or skin irritation, skin dimpling & skin irritation, watery discharge from the nipple and redness on the breast skin or nipple.

Benefits of Regular Self-Exam

Regular self-exam ensures that a breast cancer is found early and there are more treatment choices for the affected person. Woman having breast cancer in the early stages have a better chance of recovery, as the cancer is unable to affect the lymph nodes.

Should A Woman With Bipolar Disorder Have An Abortion?

Abortion, a woman's choice, is not a hard procedure to acquire. In general, if you have some cash, all that's required to get an abortion in North America is setting an appointment. What many women are unaware of when they're making this choice - and of particular concern to those with bipolar disorder - is the potential of intense, negative psychological consequences following abortion.

In the 1970s, in Vancouver, Canada, women considering abortion had to first get the permission of their family doctor, a gynecologist, and a psychiatrist. Some women found that it was the psychiatrist who nixed the procedure, telling them they just weren't capable of handling the trauma and that it would impact them for the rest of their lives.

Abortion Clinic

Since then, things have turned to the opposite extreme. Now that abortion has become both legal and mainstream, it's commonly viewed as nothing more than a simple procedure.

A woman at the abortion clinic will probably not be told of the possibility of severe negative psychological aftereffects. Most women considering an abortion will never be informed of the documented risk factors of abortion, both physical and psychological. Unfortunately, these hidden risk factors can be even more severely damaging to a woman already suffering bipolar disorder.

The possible negative psychological impact of abortion goes by several names: Post Abortion Syndrome , Post Abortion Stress Disorder, Post Abortion Stress Syndrome, Post Abortion Stress, and Post Abortion Trauma. It's categorized as a form of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Clinically the recognized diagnosis is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, with abortion as the stressor.

While women in post-abortion counseling have reported over 100 negative symptoms, the ones most concerning to women with bipolar disorder are the tendency to engage in self-destructive acts. In a study of 100 women who suffered PAS, findings reported feelings of self-hatred as most common, followed by drug abuse, and then alcohol. Some women reported becoming addicted to drugs or alcohol following abortion. 60 percent of the women reported suicidal ideation, and 28 percent attempted suicide - half of which attempted suicide twice or more.

Generally the first symptom of PAS is denial. If and when this wears off, there may be grief, followed by depression, anxiety, irritability, and low frustration tolerance leading to the possibility of explosions of anger and even violence. There may be a lack of emotional connection, withdrawal in relationships, and sexual promiscuity.

Those familiar with bipolar disorder will recognize these possible aftereffects as potentially serious complications in this illness. The woman with bipolar disorder is already at risk for most, if not all of these psychological problems before she has an abortion. Having an abortion may in fact be what pushes her over the edge, and drives her to end her life in suicide.

Those who pressure the woman with bipolar facing an unplanned pregnancy into abortion may be well-meaning, but are uninformed about the danger of what they are trying to convince her to do. They may think she is ruining her life and the life of the child by going through with the pregnancy, and consider abortion to be a simple and easy solution. Unfortunately, as the studies show, it's not quite so simple. Abortion may in fact become the factor that ruins the life of the woman predisposed to mental illness.

Even those who refute the existence of Post Abortion Stress/Trauma will admit that generally the women most negatively impacted by abortion are those who have lower self-esteem to begin with, those who underwent the abortion in circumstances of extreme pressure or abandonment, and those who had a mental illness before abortion.

In other words, even those who argue against the possibility of a negative traumatic impact following abortion are saying that women who aren't stable to begin with may experience this same negative psychological effect. This brings us back to the abandoned logic of the 70s, when psychiatrists had to OK abortions.

Unfortunately, despite documented statistics and studies of women who have experienced abortion, many psychiatrists are uninformed about the possibilities of the negative psychological impact of abortion - and even have been known to recommend it to women suffering from bipolar disorder.

Asperger Syndrome: Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

The Asperger's Syndrome was named after a Viennese pediatrician, Hans Asperger. In 1944, he explained the reason behind inefficiency in social behavior but normal intelligence in his male patients. This is a neurological disorder in which the person suffering shows a number of typical characteristics like odd patterns in speech, obsessions, poor coordination, inefficiency in social interaction and several other peculiar behaviors. The children who suffer from this disorder find it difficult to differentiate the various body languages and are able to show only a few facial expressions. They may be obsessive about their routines and may be unusually sensitive to some sensory stimuli.

It was noted by Asperger that though the males suffering from this condition show normal language development and intelligence, they find it hard to effectively communicate their ideas. They may have problems with paying attention for longer spans and they are also known to have a behavior that others find odd or eccentric. These conditions do not go away with age and an adult who has this condition shows the same symptoms. However, despite Asperger's Syndrome being a lifetime condition, if it is diagnosed at an early stage and proper services are provided, there is a chance that the symptoms may reduce with time.

Abortion Clinic

Causes: Though there is no specific cause known for the condition, it is generally suggested that it is genetic, possibly running through generations in a family. Also, it is thought that some fetal development problems might cause this condition considering the differences in structure and function of specific parts of the brain. Some researches showed that the condition might be associated with depression, bipolar disorder and other mental disorders. There is a wrong idea that the condition is caused due to bad parenting. However, Asperger's syndrome is a neurological disorder and does not depend on the upbringing of the child.

Symptoms: In most cases, Asperger's syndrome is diagnosed in children in the age of 5-9 years. It might be difficult to differentiate the symptoms from troubles in behavior and this is why they can be evaluated only by professionals in many cases. The diagnosis of this condition is often confused with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder or ADHD.

Treatment: There is neither a cure not an effective medical treatment for Asperger's Syndrome. There can be treatment for some symptoms like depression which are associated with the condition. The main treatment for this condition is training as in the case of Autism. Training for modification in behavior and social skills has found to be effective. Training may also be provided for decision making, problem solving and other skills.

The condition does not mean that a person suffering from it will not be able to succeed socially and academically. In fact, there are many people suffering from the Asperger's syndrome who believe that this condition is more of a "difference" and not a "disorder". There are people with this condition who are leading a full and happy life through proper education and support.

Mercury and Health - What is Mercury and Why It's So Harmful

Mercury is actually a neurotoxin produced from rocks and volcanoes, fresh water lakes and oceans. Again, many industrial processes like power generation from coal, metal mining and waste ignition lead to generation of mercury that is tremendously harmful. The augmented industrialization is largely responsible for the generation of such a harmful metal.

Mercury Forms in the Atmosphere

Abortion Clinic

There can be three forms of mercury:

-Elemental mercury: It is in the form of silvery volatile liquid that is normally found.

-Inorganic mercury: It is the compounded form that is actually known as mercury salt.

-Organic mercury: When mercury is combined with carbon, it is called organic mercury.

Exposure of Mercury to human body

Due to it unbreakable nature, it stays in the environment for a long period and doesn't get dissolve in it. This is why, there is more possibility of mercury exposure to human body. This will might shock you that mercury can badly affect the kidneys, brain, liver and spinal cord. The diseases, which can be caused by this extremely injurious element, are distorted vision, problems in breathing, nausea, memory loss, hallucination, personality disorder, pneumonitis and many more. The main body parts that seriously have an effect on it are brain and kidney. It can be soaked up by the skin and causes dangerous allergies.

Mercury consists of a compound that is called methyl mercury. This is the most ruinous part of this element. It is strictly advised to pregnant women to stay away from the element, as it can affect the development of the baby in womb and can lead to weak memory and language.

How do we get in contact with mercury?

The air can get contaminated even by a broken thermometer, as it gets evaporated very quickly and then dissolve in air. It also gets dissolve in the air when coal and wood are burnt, as fuel or when toxic waste is burned up. This portion of mercury in air gets liquefied with the rain and then flows into rivers, oceans and lakes. After amalgamating in water, this element turn up into highly toxic compound called methylmercury. This is sometimes absorbed by fish and then it is consumed by human beings via fish curries that they enjoy with pleasure. Again, when these contaminated fishes are eaten by any animal and in this way, we get expose to mercury. You cannot clear up the mercury element from fish by washing and cooking them.

There are some other ways as well, from which we can consume mercury. Dental filling is one of them. Sometimes over dental fillings can cause the mercury exposure. Along with that, certain cosmetics products also include mercury that can cause allergies. The breakage of fluorescent bulbs can also be a reason behind the exposure.

Symptoms of exposure to Mercury

You can figure out yourself whether you are exposed to mercury or not, if you observe these symptoms:

-Itching

-Muscle weakness

-Sweating

-Psychological and mental disorder

-Hair loss

-Improper functioning of kidney

So, having a proper knowledge about mercury and the consequences to mercury exposure can save you from any future problem.
